The following was sent as an All Call to Sandburg families.

Good Afternoon, Eagle Families.

This is Deborah Baker, Principal of Carl Sandburg High School, calling with important information for the Class of 2017 and their families.

Because the National Weather Service continues to predict significantly inclement weather for this afternoon and tonight, we will be moving the graduation ceremony indoors tonight for the certain safety of all of our guests and graduates.

Some information that may be useful to you now:

  1. Shuttle buses will transport graduating seniors to campus for our graduation ceremony from Palos West Elementary School, 12700 104th Avenue, starting at 5:00 pm.

  2. Graduating seniors should report to their assigned rooms no later than 6:00 pm.

  3. Doors open to family and friends at 5:00 pm.

  4. Inside seating is color coded.

  5. Only red tickets are allowed into the Eagle Gym, the venue for the actual ceremony.

  6. Color-coded directional signage will be posted throughout the building.  The best staff on the planet will be assisting as well.

  7. Graduates will formally recess out of the Eagle Gym after the ceremony, so it will be helpful if you establish a meeting space either inside or even outside the building with your child.  Inside spaces include the commons, the grill, and hallway spaces on the first floor.

  8. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the ancillary venues within the building.  We also encourage families to take advantage of this live broadcast from the comfort of home, too. The live video can be accessed at www.d230.org

We make more history tonight - an indoor graduation for almost 800 students.  We look forward to the celebration of this amazing class.
