InvestWrite

Carl Sandburg High School sophomore Elise Anderson was recently named the State Winner of the InvestWrite Contest. InvestWrite is a national writing competition offered exclusively to teachers and students participating in The Stock Market Game™.

Students in AP Macroeconomics taught by Christina Simpson were encouraged to participate in the writing contest earlier this fall. Students wrote an essay responding to the following: Describe your Stock Market game portfolio investments. Was your portfolio diversified? If so, how? If not, how could you make it more diversified for long-term financial success?

The teacher reviews the essays and submits the best ones. Then, InvestWrite judges review and score up to eight essays each. Essays are evaluated on rationale, understanding of the subject matter, and writing style.

As the winner, Elise received a trophy and banner for the school, Invest Write swag, and a $100 gift card. Her awards were presented in her AP US Government class.

Anderson is also a member of First Class Ambassadors, a student leader who serves as a liaison, spokesperson, and advocate for Sandburg High School. She is also involved in Orchesis, CORE (Cancer Outreach, Resources and Education), Student Council, and Culinary Club.
