Eagle Olympian

Italy, Portugal, Chile, Tokyo, Spain, Azerbaijan, Athens, Bulgaria, Israel, Russia – Carl Sandburg High School Class of 2019 graduate and two-time Olympian, Evita Griskenas has traveled the world, competing in rhythmic gymnastics. Currently, she is in Paris, France, and is scheduled to compete in rhythmic gymnastics beginning August 8 for Team USA.

The former Eagle has numerous national and international titles, including:

  • 2023 Pan American Games all-around silver medalist and hoop, ball, clubs & ribbon bronze medalist

  • Member of the 2023 World Championships team

  • Advanced to the all-around and hoop finals of the 2022 World Championships

  • 2022 U.S. all-around, hoop & clubs champion and ball & ribbon silver medalist

  • Member of the 2021 World Championships team

  • Competed at the 2020 Olympic Games

  • 2021 U.S. ball champion and all-around, clubs & ribbon silver medalist

  • Won the NextGen Female Athlete Award at the 2019 Pan Am Sports Awards

A recent graduate of Columbia University of New York, she earned a degree in Psychology. According to her Olympic profile, she began gymnastics in 2004, saying “I saw rhythmic on the TV and fell in love with it. I begged my mom to go and have been in it ever since.”
