Dr. Wheaton’s professional pursuits have been shaped by growing up in a family of seven with a very strong commitment to education and the field of teaching. This foundation of support and encouragement guided Dr. Wheaton to study education at Illinois State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. She continued her education by earning a Master of Science degree in School Psychology at Illinois State University. After working several years as a school psychologist, she completed coursework to obtain a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Governors State University. In 2006, Dr. Wheaton earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Loyola University Chicago. Prior to coming to District 230 in 2009, Dr. Wheaton served as the Director of Student Services for Mokena Public Schools and was Principal at Mokena Junior High School for six years. Since 2009, Dr. Wheaton has served Carl Sandburg High School as the Associate Principal of Instruction, Associate Principal of Pupil Personnel Services, and Principal.

Mr. Klene joined Sandburg's administrative team as Associate Principal in July 2012. He joined the school from Lockport High School where he served as Dean of Students and Activities Director. He also served as Interim Department Chair for Social Science and taught American Government and Economics. He earned a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Francis, an Administrative Certificate from Governors State University and a Bachelors in Social Science from Eastern Illinois University.

Mrs. Gikas joined District 230 in 1983. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Augustana College majoring in biology and secondary education. She went on to obtain a Master of Arts from Governors State University in educational administration and from National Louis University in curriculum and instruction. Mrs. Gikas’ educational career includes being a teacher, division chair and associate principal.

Mr. Treasure is entering his seventh year as assistant principal for Activities/Athletics. Prior to his appointment as assistant principal, Mr. Treasure served as a dean of students for six years at Sandburg and as a physical education teacher at Stagg High School. Mr. Treasure received his Bachelor degree from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and his Masters degree in Educational Administration from Governors State.
